Turn to shelters for pets

The Spokesman-Review

I agree with the letter by Tia Rosetti-Mills on Sept. 9 (“Curb backyard breeders”). Has anyone noticed how many “Dogs for sale” ads there are in The Spokesman-Review? It’s horrible. It’s unnecessary.

If breeders were required to purchase a license before they could breed, you wouldn’t see so many homeless dogs and unnecessary euthanasia in our shelters.

Shame on people for “buying” from these ads when thousands of wonderful, unlucky pets are waiting for homes in our shelters.

I would like to take it a step further and ask The Spokesman-Review to refuse to place ads in the paper from backyard breeders who are selfishly breeding for profit with not a care in the world for the welfare of these animals.

Please check out The Spokane Humane Society, SCRAPS or SpokAnimal for your next best friend.

Let’s put these backyard breeders out of business.
