In brief: Friends of ALS sufferer Hoff plan fundraiser next Saturday

VERADALE – A fundraiser for Jenny Hoff, a Spokane Valley woman with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease), is planned next Saturday at Sullivan Scoreboard, 205 N. Sullivan Road.

According to her friends, Hoff was diagnosed with the disease in April, 2006 and has helped raise more than $30,000 for ALS organizations.

The fundraiser is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. For more information call (509) 891-9547.

Disincorporation supporters host fundraiser barbecue today

SPOKANE VALLEY – Citizens for Disincorporation and Friends of Spokane Valley will hold a fundraising barbecue today for the Spokane Valley City Council candidates the organizations support.

The candidates are Dean Grafos, Brenda Grassel, state Sen. Bob McCaslin, city Planning Commissioner Tom Towey and incumbent City Councilman Gary Schimmels.

The meet-the-candidates event will be in the World Wide Productions parking lot at 717 S. Pines Road, from 3 to 6 p.m.
