Fisher knows how to highlight her accents

I’m always amazed at how well many actors from the United Kingdom can do American accents. The list is long, from Nicole Kidman to Hugh Jackman, Geoffrey Rush to Simon Baker .

Isla Fisher , who stars in the mostly forgettable “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” pegs her American character’s accent perfectly. This despite the fact that she was born of Scottish parents who raised her in Australia.

In fact, if you click on the YouTube link below – which captures Fisher doing the Letterman show – you’ll catch her speaking in her natural Down Under tones. Then in the clip that Letterman shows, from the film “The Lookout,” you hear her affected (and effective) American accent.
