EWU at Sacramento St.
Sat., Sept. 26, 2009
KICKOFF: at 1:05 p.m. at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif.
Records: EWU 2-1, 1-0 Big Sky; Sacramento State 0-2, 0-0
Radio: 790-AM
Overview: This will be the home and Big Sky Conference opener for Sacramento State, which lost its first two games to UNLV and Cal Poly by lopsided margins and is coming off a bye week. The Hornets have been inconsistent on both sides of the ball and come in ranked eighth in the conference – or lower – in nearly every major statistical category, including pass defense efficiency. That bodes well for Eastern’s passing game, which ranks as the second-most efficient in the league but struggled in last Saturday’s 16-0 home win over Northern Colorado. The 19th-ranked Eagles have yet to put together a breakout offensive effort, but this could be the week, considering the motivational factor involved. It was the Hornets who put perhaps the biggest stain on EWU’s record last year when they won 15-12 at Cheney.
