St. John’s plans flute, piano concert

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., will present a flute and piano concert Sunday at 4 p.m.

Flautist Sheri Jacobson and pianist Gordon Jacobson will perform music from Bach to the present, including “Sonata” from Francis Poulenc, “Melodies Passageres,” by Samuel Barber and “Summer Music,” by Richard Rodney Bennett.

There is a suggested donation of $5 to help support the church’s concert series.

Also on Sunday, the church will also services for the second Sunday of Easter with Holy Eucharist at 8 a.m., Holy Eucharist and the flowering of the cross at 10 a.m. and the parish Easter party and egg hunt at 11:30 a.m.

Rummage sale

The Women of Fowler United Methodist Church, 3928 N. Howard St., will present a rummage sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Items for sale include clothing, books, magazines, plants, furniture, games and toys.

There will also be refreshments for sale.

The funds raised will benefit the group’s mission outreach program.

Faith classes

St. Augustine Parish, 428 W. 19th Ave., will offer a six-week course, “Awakening Faith: Reconnecting with your Catholic Faith” starting Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The classes will meet on Wednesdays through May 19.

Subjects discussed will include “Spirituality: What’s the Buzz?” “Who is Jesus?” “Do We Need the Spirit?” “Can I Accept God’s Mercy?” “Can Mass Make My Life Meaningful?” and “The Church and Me.”

The classes are free, but registration is required.
