WSP chief trying for New Orleans job

OLYMPIA – Washington State Patrol Chief John R. Batiste says he’s a candidate for police chief of New Orleans.

Batiste, a native of Hammond, La., has headed Washington’s largest law enforcement agency since 2005.

He was previously a deputy chief for the Port of Seattle and assistant chief in Tacoma in addition to a 26-year career at the WSP.
