Colville tribal officer injured in crash

A Colville tribal police officer was hospitalized Monday after crashing his cruiser in Ferry County while responding to an emergency call.

Paul Leroy Hill, 38, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the 5:45 p.m. crash along Incheleum Gifford Ferry Road about four miles south of Gifford, according to the Washington State Patrol. Hill was responding to an unspecified request for service and lost control of his 2009 Ford Expedition on a curve, veered off the road and struck a tree, troopers reported.

Investigators said it appeared he was driving too fast, but no charges are expected.
