Seahawks release former Oregon State WR, add Jones

The Seattle Seahawks have released former Oregon State wide receiver Mike Hass to make roster room for newly acquired free agent wide receiver Brandon Jones.

The team had agreed to terms with Jones on Sunday. The 27-year-old played in eight games for San Francisco after the 49ers gave him a $16.6 million free-agent contract last year.

Seattle released Hass for the second time this month.

Hass played for Jesuit High School in Portland and was a sixth-round draft choice by New Orleans in 2006.

Chris Johnson ran for a touchdown, Vince Young outdueled Matt Leinart yet again and Tennessee beat Arizona 24-10 in the Titans’ preseason home opener.

The Titans (1-1) never trailed as Johnson scored on his sixth carry, an 8-yard TD that capped an 85-yard drive. The All-Pro watched from the bench the rest of the night.

Young once again got the better of Leinart, who is trying to hold off Derek Anderson for the starting job in Arizona. Young was 9 of 13 for 128 yards and left after four series with a 10-0 lead.

Leinart was 4 of 6 for 28 yards but produced no points. The Cardinals (1-1) went three-and-out on each of his three series.

Manning plans to play

The New York Giants have their quarterback back at practice and getting ready to start Saturday’s next-to-last preseason game against the Ravens in Baltimore.

Eli Manning left no doubt before practice that he will play against the Ravens.

The 12 stitches that closed the head wound were removed Friday, four days after he was bloodied in the game against the Jets.

Bradford may start

A.J. Feeley is not practicing with the St. Louis Rams, increasing the likelihood that No. 1 draft pick Sam Bradford will start at quarterback this week.

Feeley has undergone an MRI exam for a thumb injury and also hurt his elbow in the first quarter Saturday at Cleveland.

Around the league

The Atlanta Falcons traded guard Quinn Ojinnaka to the New England Patriots for an undisclosed draft pick. … The Chicago Bears have signed 38-year-old Todd Collins to add a veteran QB to their roster.
