Idaho opens its tourney with a win

Deremy Geiger had 13 points and hit three 3-pointers as Idaho beat North Dakota 63-42 on Friday night in the Basketball Travelers Classic in Moscow, Idaho.

Brandon Wiley added 12 points and five rebounds to help the Vandals (3-3). Shawn Henderson scored eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

The Fighting Sioux (2-4) were led by Patrick Mitchell, who scored 13 points. Josh Schuler added 10.

North Dakota trailed 31-26 at the half, and Idaho dominated to start the second half with a 16-6 run.

The Sioux struggled from the field in the second half, shooting 21 percent, and just 26.3 percent (15 of 57) for the game. Idaho shot 48.1 percent (25 of 52).

The Vandals outrebounded the Fighting Sioux 43-27.

Whitworth 77, Lewis & Clark 60: Jack Loofburrow finished with 14 points off the bench to lead the Pirates (5-0, 1-0) to their fifth consecutive win to start the season in the Northwest Conference opener against the Pioneers (4-1, 0-1) in Portland.

Wade Gebbers added 13 points as the Pirates held the Pioneers to their lowest shooting percentage of the season (31 percent).

CC Spokane 76, Shoreline 59: Matt Barnes tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds and the Sasquatch (3-2) outscored the Dolphins (3-2) 34-18 in the first half at Spokane Falls CC in the Bigfoot-Cardinal Shootout. CCS will play Green River today at 5:30 p.m. in Coeur d’Alene.

North Idaho 111, Gonzaga Club 50: Tyrone White finished with 16 points as four Cardinals (11-0) finished in double figures in their win at the Bigfoot-Cardinal Shootout in Coeur d’Alene.

NIC will play Highline today at 7:30 p.m. in CdA.
