Birthplace of success

In a letter to the editor, Ann Kaluza, of Spokane, wrote in favor of keeping the East Side Library open. Not only do I stand with Ann in her views, I am glad to add that Ann is eminently qualified to express those views. Somebody once said that you can’t argue with success.

Ann Kaluza was an award-winning debater in high school and at Gonzaga University. She was valedictorian at both her high school and university graduations, and maintained a 4.0-plus grade point average throughout her school years. At the time, when asked what the secret was to her successful academic and debating career, Ann always gave credit to the East Side branch of the Spokane Library for their help and support, their mentoring and research.

How many more potential valedictorians are there in the East Central Neighborhood that may be lost if this gem of a neighborhood library is closed?
