Five injured in two-car crash
Sun., Dec. 26, 2010
Five people were injured in a two-car crash Sunday south of Chewelah.
Joseph D. Burya, 70, of Valley, Wash., was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Sunday night, officials said. Four people were taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Chewelah with non-life-threatening injuries.
About 7:50 a.m., Burya was southbound on Highway 395 when a northbound driver, 39-year-old Mario George, reportedly lost control on the icy road and crossed over the centerline into Burya’s path, according to the Washington State Patrol.
George could face a charge of driving too fast for conditions, the WSP said.
