Colfax, Reardan girls win

Colfax and Reardan, a couple of 18-3 schools, will play for the Bi-County 2B League girls tournament championship and 1-2 seeding to district tonight at 6 at Reardan after winning Thursday night.

Colfax 52, Northwest Christian 41: Aggressive play by the Crusaders (11-11) in the first quarter caught the Bulldogs (18-3) by surprise, but Colfax gained control in the second quarter. Kayla Johnson’s 11 points led Colfax. Lisa Vandenberg had 10 for NWC.

Reardan 51, Lind-Ritzville 39: Aly Peone hit four consecutive 3-pointers to highlight a 24-point fourth quarter for the Indians (18-3) that more than made up for a three-point third quarter in which the Broncos (13-9) took a 31-27 lead. Peone finished with 17 points. Devon Killian led the Broncos with 12.

Lind-Ritzville will play NWC for third and fourth seeding to district at 6 tonight in Reardan.

Great Northern

West Valley 72, Clarkston 38: Hannah Love (27) and Shaniqua Nilles (23) combined for 50 points as the league-leading Eagles (18-0, 12-0 GNL) won in Clarkston. Kellie McCann-Smith led the Bantams (8-9, 6-5) with 16 points.

Cheney 56, Riverside 39: Janae Olson had a career-high 20 points, including 8 of 10 free throws, and pulled six of her 10 rebounds off the offensive boards, to lead the Blackhawks (9-9, 5-7) past the visiting Rams (2-16, 0-12).

Boys Great Northern

Cheney 43, Riverside 30: DeAngelo Jones had 13 points and led a 45-28 rebounding advantage with 12 to spark the Blackhawks (11-7, 7-5 GNL) past the visiting Rams (6-12, 3-9). Cheney hit 8 of 10 free throws in a 20-point fourth quarter that blew open a close game.

West Valley 55, Clarkston 52: The Eagles (10-7, 7-4), led by Brady Bagby’s 20 points that included three 3-pointers, needed a strong second half to win in Clarkston (13-4, 9-2).

District 9 1B tourney

St. John-Endicott 54, LaCrosse-Washtucna 26: A smothering press got the Eagles (11-10) started and they cruised to the first-round win against the visiting Tigercats (7-14). Warren Miller had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles. Jeff Zimmer led LW with 12 points.

SJE plays at Tri-Cities Prep at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Bi-Co 2B tourney

Colfax 59, Lind-Ritzville 57: James Robinson hit 1 of 2 free throws with 5 seconds left as the Bulldogs (15-6) held off the Broncos (16-6) in Reardan after opening a six-point lead early in the fourth quarter. Robinson led three Bulldogs in double figures with 14 points. Bryce Hilzer scored 20 for LR.

Northwest Christian 51, Davenport 45: Cole Ramey had 18 points and five steals to spark the Crusaders (18-3) past the Gorillas (16-6). Morgan Scharff led Davenport with 14 points.

NWC plays Colfax tonight at 7:30 at Reardan for the tournament title and 1-2 seeding to district. Davenport and Lind-Ritzville play at 4:30 for third and fourth.
