The Spokesman-Review
YAKIMA — Kennedy Seyler scored seven of his 14 points in the fourth quarter, and Wellpinit rallied to upset top-ranked Rosalia 63-53 in the quarterfinals of the Class 1B boys state tournament on Thursday night. Cody Flett led the Redskins (23-3) with 20 points, including three free throws in the closing minutes as Wellpinit repeatedly kept turning back Rosalia charges. Drake Wynne finished with 11. Jim Maley led the Spartans (23-1) with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Zach St. John chipped in 11 points, and Nathan Richards pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds. Rosalia never led and trailed by nine, 42-33, late in the third quarter before rallying back to tie the score twice early in the fourth quarter. But Wynne pushed Wellpinit ahead to stay with a free throw that made it 45-44 with 6:40 to play. It sparked a 14-3 run that sealed the outcome.
