In brief: Police ID officers involved in shooting

From Staff And Wire Reports

Spokane police investigators have released the names of the Spokane Valley officers involved in a shooting Sunday.

Sgt. Dale Golman, Officer Scott Bonney, Officer Walter Loucks and Officer Darell Stidham were among the first to respond to a report of a suicidal man in the 11700 block of East Fairview Avenue, according to a Spokane Police Department news release.

The man, 55, stepped outside and aimed a handgun at the officers. Golman, Bonney, Loucks and Stidham fired their weapons. The man was taken to a Spokane hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Golman and Loucks have 21 and 14 years law enforcement experience, respectively, the release said. Bonney and Stidham, a former deputy in Kootenai County, each have seven.

Bonney was one of the officers involved in the 2007 death of Trent Yohe. Yohe, who was on methamphetamine, died after he was Tasered and hogtied during an arrest. Yohe’s family filed suit against Spokane County over the summer.

The Spokane Police Department is investigating the incident as part of an interdepartmental agreement regarding officer-involved shootings.
