2010’s to-do list

The Spokesman-Review

With the advent of a new year, perhaps it is time for a new perspective. There will always be duly elected (and hired) officials who will betray our trust. Wife beaters and child molesters will continue to wreak their heinous deeds. Bad decisions will be made in Olympia and elsewhere. Crime isn’t going to disappear any time soon.

Let us try to be like the little boy who was seen throwing starfish back into the ocean. When asked why, he replied, “I can’t save them all, but I can save some of them.” Here are a few suggestions:

1. Let a homeless person use your washing machine to clean their clothes.

2. Rake your neighbor’s yard.

3. Volunteer.

4. Give.

5. Vote.

6. Adopt a pet.

7. Write cheery notes to others year round.

8. Pray for the terrorists.

9. Be a mentor.

10. Love your wife (or husband).
