Common sense patrol

The Spokesman-Review

Regarding your editorial “Fight against Medicare fraud needs your help” (Jan. 2), sign me up.

If the Senior Elderly Patrol does not exist in Spokane, I will do my best to gather as many friends as possible for organization.

Now consider this: Who is to fight against Medicare stupidity? Here is a scenario: Two patients, one 58 years old, has private insurance and the other, 65, receives Medicare. Both have a troublesome infection or condition requiring intravenous antibiotics. The one with private insurance can often be treated as an outpatient while Medicare requires hospitalization. Do the math regarding which costs more, including loss of wages. Stupid rules made by nonmedical people.

I am not in favor of a health care reform as the proposal currently exists. If a federally supervised program can lose $40 billion in one year on coverage for “the elderly” (how I dislike that term), think what damage they can do with coverage for all.
