In brief: Awards gala tickets are still available

SPOKANE VALLLEY – Tickets are still on sale for the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce seventh annual Awards of Excellence Gala, to be held Jan. 30 at CenterPlace Regional Event Center, 2426 N. Discovery Place.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a silent auction and social hour. A gourmet dinner will start at 7, the award presentation will be at 8, and dancing will begin at 9:30, following the awards.

Awards will be handed out to the Citizen of the Year; Small Business of the Year; Medium Business of the Year; Large Business of the Year; Nonprofit of the Year; Chamber Volunteer of the Year and Community Caring Award.

Tickets are $52 per person or $400 for a table of eight people. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

St. John Vianney plans annual dinner

DISHMAN – St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 503 N. Walnut Road, will hold its annual spaghetti dinner Jan. 31, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The all-you-can-eat event will be in the church hall and will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, rolls, dessert, coffee and milk.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children age 6 and younger. For more information call (509) 926-7987.

City Hall closed Monday for holiday

SPOKANE VALLEY – The city of Spokane Valley City Hall offices will be closed on Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. City Hall offices will reopen on Tuesday. For more information, call (509) 688-0232.

529 blankets gathered for shelters

VERADALE – Jennifer’s Auto Sales and Spokane Valley Fire Department, along with the generosity and support of the Spokane Valley community, collected 529 blankets for local shelters during a recent blanket drive.
