Voter patience in order

The Spokesman-Review

I was afraid, at the celebration in Grant Park on Obama’s election, that we were expecting too much, too soon, and too easily. Well, reality has set in, the man of the hour can’t wave a magic wand, and we’re reacting like spoiled children, with a tantrum. I didn’t realize how vicious our electorate could be. Hell hath no fury like a voter scorned.

If only we didn’t demand instant gratification. If only Santa Claus were real, and he would come on demand! If only …

And, if only those guys in Washington realized they are working for the good of everybody, not just their own ideological groupies.

Wake up, political people everywhere. Our lives depend on it.

With fragile, but please god not false, hope.

Ann Echegoyen
