Student-tended flowers for sale

Hayden Meadows Elementary School will begin presales for its custom hanging flower baskets on Monday.

Green Thumb Productions, Hayden Meadows commercial greenhouse, is selling petunias in a variety of colors, red geraniums and cherry tomatoes. The baskets run $30 each.

Students grow the flowers and vegetables for the baskets, and the money raised from the sales goes back into the self-supporting greenhouse. The school has run the greenhouse for the past four years.

The greenhouse has been used for math and science lessons, and even English composition lessons.

Pre-order coupons will be available in the Hayden Meadows office, beginning Monday morning.
