Train derailment repair deadline set

The Spokesman-Review
Repairs to parts of State Route 231 at Edwall that were damaged in a train derailment last week will not be completed until Friday, the Washington State Patrol reported. The road and tracks have been closed since June 2, when a BNSF freight train jackknifed on a side rail line, blocking the main tracks. One of the cars landed on the highway, blocking the road. Washington Department of Transportation officials initially hoped to have the road repaired June 4, but said late last week that the road would be completed Tuesday. On Wednesday, BNSF said repairs would not be completed until Friday, WSP said. A detour around the area is in effect.
