Teenage sailor may write book

Los Angeles Times The Spokesman-Review

LOS ANGELES – Abby Sunderland, the 16-year-old Thousand Oaks, Calif., girl whose solo sailing effort ended when Wild Eyes, her boat, was damaged during rough seas, continued her slow journey home.

Blogging from her rescue ship, Sunderland said she’s doing well and is writing about what happened to her for a possible book.

“At first I decided that I wasn’t going to write a book. But then I started to think about all the good times Wild Eyes and I have had together,” she wrote. “Wild Eyes and my trip have been the best thing I have ever done or been through and I don’t ever want to forget all the great times we have had together, or the bad ones for that matter.”

She’s expected to reach Kerguelen Islands as early as Monday.
