Woman trapped overnight in car

A 72-year-old woman is recuperating at Kootenai Medical Center after spending the night trapped in an overturned car along a North Idaho highway. Lucille Collins, of Coeur d’Alene, was discovered about 11:30 a.m. Sunday after her 2003 Buick Century was spotted upside down off a steep embankment along U.S. Highway 97 in Benewah County, according to the Idaho State Police. She was freed from the wreckage and rushed to the Coeur d’Alene hospital, where officials said she was listed in good condition. According to troopers, Collins was driving northbound about 8:30 p.m. when she drove off the right shoulder near milepost 66, overcorrected, slid across both lanes and onto the opposite shoulder, then careened down a steep embankment, rolling over and crashing into trees.
