Chiefs lose to Rockets in shootout
KELOWNA, B.C. – Geordie Wudrick and Brandon McMillan scored shootout goals for Kelowna, while Spokane’s Jared Cowen and Mitch Wahl came up empty as the Rockets hung a 3-2 loss on the Chiefs on Wednesday night in Western Hockey League action.
Spokane earned one point for the shootout loss and stays two points ahead of fourth-place Portland and four back of second-place Everett in the U.S. Division.
The Chiefs have six games left in regular-season play.
After a scoreless first period, Lucas Bloodoff staked Kelowna (31-30-2-4) to a 1-0 lead 33 seconds into the second period.
Tyler Johnson pulled the Chiefs (40-21-3-2) even with a short-handed goal at 13:54 in the second.
The Rockets retook the lead on a short-handed third-period goal by McMillan, but Brenden Kichton scored to tie it 2-2 with 9:48 left.
