Power restored after fiery car crash
Power has been restored to most of the 1,700 customers in the Indian Trail area of Spokane early today after a vehicle crashed down an embankment and struck a power pole. Police are looking for the driver.
Avista Utilities reported that all but three customers had electricity by 5 a.m., three hours after the accident near Indian Trail and Strong roads.
Firefighters were sent to the scene at 2:23 a.m. to put out a fire that started in the car.
Spokane police said that the driver fled – apparently not seriously injured – and was found later at a gas station on Francis Avenue, but he then escaped, according to a KHQ-TV report.
