Imagine the possibilities of ‘What if?’

Carolyne “Chevy” Pickup Special to The Spokesman-Review

What if you decided to live your highest vision of yourself … every day?

What if you made a list of all the wonderful things about you … and didn’t stop till you reached 100?

What if you made an effort to learn the last names of your co-workers … and their children’s first names?

What if you were kind to everyone … especially the mean people?

What if you forgave everyone you knew. What if you forgave yourself?

What if you wore something you would never, ever wear? What if you got compliments? Would you wear it again?

What if you stopped being afraid … just for a little while? Like on Tuesday, everyone can stop being afraid on Tuesday. Is Tuesday good for you?

What if you stopped being angry? We could do that on Wednesday.

What if you started noticing the color of people’s eyes, or if they were right-handed or left-handed?

What if you said “thank you” all the time, even for little things, like when people give you change?

What if you really looked at people when you say, “Have a wonderful day”?

What if you started walking in your neighborhood? What if you made an effort to meet your neighbors?

What if you stopped judging people … especially yourself?

What if you actually could see someone else’s side for once … even if they’re obviously wrong?

What if you built a snowman or a sand castle … without any children present?

What if you were brave? What if you pretended you were brave? Would you feel taller?

What if you did someone a huge, huge favor and never told anyone about it … ever?

What if you gave away something you loved to someone who loves it more? What if they didn’t deserve it? Would you still do it?

What if you danced in your living room … in the daytime, without any music playing?

What if you stopped telling other people how to live and just focus on learning how to live. The best way to teach is to be an example, either a good one or a bad one.

What if you followed your dream, even if it was hopeless? Would it give you good stories to tell when you’re sitting in the rocker?

What if you made a collage of the person you would like to become a year from now?

What if you made a gratitude list? What if you burned your enemies list?

What if you looked at all the people in your life, the ones you love and the ones you don’t love, and said, “How am I just like you?” Would you be honest with yourself? Would you be surprised? Would it change your mind … or your heart?

What if you started speaking your truth? Not in a hurtful way, just speaking your truth and owning it, and saying, “This is how I see it.”

What if you allowed others to speak their truth … even if you think that they are wrong?

What if every day you lived in “What if”? Not like, “Oh! What if this disaster happens,” or “What if this calamity befalls us!” There are enough people living like that.

What if you dedicated every day to live with the possibility of becoming? Live in the here and now of possibility.

What if you posted this somewhere that you, just you, would see it, so you could read it every day? Would it change you?

Change is a constant in the universe. Everything changes. Everything is in transition, a dance of transformation. The trick is to choose what changes you desire, in your heart, to make.

What if you gave yourself permission to change? What if you gave everyone else permission too?
