In brief: ‘Christmas Story’ performances begin next week
CHIEF GARRY – Spokane Children’s Theatre will perform “A Christmas Story,” beginning Nov. 26 at Spokane Community College, 1810 N. Greene St., at 4 p.m. in the Lair Auditorium.
The show is based on the 1983 holiday movie favorite from the memoirs of Jean Shepherd and will include a cast of more than 25 local actors of all ages.
Other performances include Nov. 27-28 at 1 p.m.; Dec. 4 at 1 and 4 p.m.; Dec. 5 at 1 p.m.; Dec. 11 at 1 and 4 p.m., the 4 p.m. performance will be signed for the hearing-impaired; and Dec. 12 at 1 p.m.

HeartSongs concert will be Dec. 5
RIVERSIDE – The fifth annual HeartSongs concert will be at the Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave., on Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
The concert will feature songs of family experiences with homelessness and their paths to stability and will be performed by “The Voiceless Choir.” A silent auction will be held at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Funds raised will be used for gasoline vouchers for the choir members and will also help support Interfaith Hospitality and Volunteers of America’s Crosswalk, a teen shelter in Spokane.

StageWest opens ‘Murder’ Dec. 4
CHENEY – StageWest Community Theatre of the West Plains will perform “Murder at the Willow” on Dec. 4 and Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Willow Springs Restaurant, 809 1st St.
The dinner theater includes a five-course meal and a prize for the detective who solves the crime.
