Battery, drug counts yield 10-year term
A Coeur d’Alene man was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison for felony domestic battery and possession of methamphetamine, according to the Kootenai County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Bryan Dewitte, 48, was charged after the Coeur d’Alene Police Department found he had slapped and punched his girlfriend repeatedly and threatened to kill her. Upon arrest, officers found a small amount of meth on Dewitte, police said.
According to a news release from the prosecuting attorney, Dewitte has a lengthy criminal history that includes felony convictions for kidnapping, aggravated battery and being an inmate in possession of a weapon.
Dewitte admitted to being high on meth at the time of the domestic battery.
