Driver killed in slide-off crash on Highway 95

A Bonners Ferry woman is dead and a young boy seriously injured after being thrown from their SUV as it crashed down an embankment Thursday morning.

The accident occurred about 8 a.m. along U.S. Highway 95 near Bonners Ferry, according to the Idaho State Police.

Tanya M. McCoy was driving the 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser. She was killed when it crashed over a cement barrier and plunged down a steep embankment, overturning several times, troopers reported. The boy, 10-year-old Andrew A. McCoy, is at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane with serious injuries.

According to the State Police, the SUV was southbound when it slid out of control at milepost 508 near Bonners Ferry.
