Ferris, EV ready for trip to Tacoma

I just talked with Ferris coach Jim Sharkey. He and his staff met with their players Friday evening and said they were excited about making the trip to Tacoma for the semifinal on Monday.

“We’re treating it like we did the state championship (trip) last year,” Sharkey said as his players gathered Saturday morning for a light workout.

The Saxons will leave Sunday morning instead of driving over early Monday because they don’t want the weather to adversely affect their ability to get to Tacoma. Ferris (12-0) faces Bellarmine Prep of Tacoma (11-1) at 5 on Monday at the Tacoma Dome.

East Valley coach Adam Fisher said the Knights are leaving Sunday afternoon. EV (7-5) takes on Tumwater (10-1) at 2 on Monday at the Tacoma Dome.
