Volunteers sought for boards, panels

From Staff Reports

Spokane County has nine openings on volunteer boards, ranging from the Spokane Airport Board to the Chase Youth Commission.

County commissioners will take applications for the airport board position being vacated by Irv Reed until 1 p.m. Oct. 20. Spokane city officials also are taking applications for the position, which is a joint city-county appointment.

Applications for a six-year term on the county Civil Service Commission will be taken until 1 p.m. Oct. 29. Commissioners meet at 2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month, and hear appeals or review applications as needed.

Applicants must have lived in the county for two years and be registered voters.

Other openings, without specific application deadlines, include:

• Two positions for business people on the regional Solid Waste Advisory Committee. Applicants must live in the unincorporated part of the county.

• Two positions on the Chase Youth Commission, for residents of unincorporated parts of the county.

• A joint Spokane-Spokane County position for a state-certified real estate appraiser on the Historic Landmarks Commission.

• Two positions on the Northeast Washington Housing Solutions Board. One is for unincorporated-area residents; the other, for Spokane Valley residents.

• Two positions on the Housing and Community Development Advisory Committee – one from Millwood, the other from Spangle.

The Spokane Valley, Millwood and Spangle positions are subject to city review and county appointment. Applications may be dropped off at city halls or sent to county commissioners.
