G-Prep loses Hopkins

Six-foot-7 Charlie Hopkins runs interference for Gonzaga Prep running back Bishop Sankey in last Friday’s win over University. (Jesse Tinsley)

Gonzaga Prep senior and two-way standout Charlie Hopkins has been lost for the rest of the season because of a knee injury, Bullpups coach Dave McKenna confirmed moments ago.

Hopkins (6-foot-7, 265 pounds), who has given Stanford University an oral commitment, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the first quarter against Central Valley last Friday.

Hopkins, a two-year starter at defensive end, is pictured above blocking for running back Bishop Sankey in a game against University earlier this season. He played at left guard and fullback on offense this season.
