Women’s League Forum — Coroner
OK, I decided to live-blog the candidates’ forums tonight. Coroner candidates Deb Wilkey (R) and Jody DeLuca Hissong square off first. Sholeh Patrick is the League moderator.
- Sholeh got first laugh by warning candidates to follow the rules. She said: “I may seem sweet, but I’m not.”
- Before the debate, I extended my condolences to Jody for the loss of her grandson earlier this fall. She admitted that she’s endured a tough couple of weeks. Also, I told her
- Jody said she has been to 2000 death scenes in her career and signed 1000 death certificates in the last 5 years alone. She has 28 years in coroners office.
- Deb touts her endorsement from Coroner Bob West.
- Deb’s wearing a lavendar sweater & blouse … Jody wears white.
- Jody & Deb agree that coroner’s position shouldn’t be partisan race. Jody: “Famly of deceased doesn’t care if you’re a Democrat or Republican.”
- Closing statements: Deb (first) touts West’s endorsement again. “The endorsement speaks volumes for the trust he has in me.” Jody: West isn’t the longest running coroner. Dr. Woods. She touts police and sheriff’s endorsements as well as endorsements of Rocky Watson and Pierce Clegg.

Debate over.
