New Pac-10 divisions apparently revealed

USC A.D. tells booster club

USC athletic director Pat Haden apparently revealed at a booster club meeting on Wednesday night the proposed new divisions for the expanded Pacific-10 Conference, according to the WeAreSC.com blog. The fan site carried a transcription of a Q&A session between fans and Haden. Athletic directors voted 7-5 on the alignment – Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, UCLA, USC and Utah in one division and Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Washington and Washington State – in the other, Haden said. The presidents of the schools will vote on it later this month. Haden is not overjoyed with the split. “We’re going for the money, sadly; that’s what it is,” Haden said. “We need a conference title game.” “I proposed a 5-2-2 model that has us playing the five schools (in our division) every year and then have the Northern California schools as part of our regular two and then rotate the other two. We need to play Stanford and Cal.”
