Helicopter hit by gunfire in Idaho

A helicopter was fired upon near Clarkia, Idaho, on Oct. 14. Police said the helicopter was doing contract burning on Potlatch Corp. land when the pilot and ground crew members heard four gunshots. The pilot was able to leave the area and land safely at a nearby refueling station. Two bullet holes were found in the aircraft. A suspect has been identified, and the FBI is working with the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office to determine the appropriate charges, police said. Police have not released the name of the suspect.
