Bulldogs edge Bears in double overtime

Cole Fuhrman kicked the winning 31-yard field goal in double overtime Friday and Sandpoint (4-5, 2-0) clinched first place in the Inland Empire 4A with a 31-28 victory over Moscow (6-3, 1-1) in Sandpoint.

Anthony Gold finished with 128 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Bulldogs, while Jake Helbling led the Bears with 120 yards passing and two total touchdowns.

IEL 5A

Post Falls 39, Lewiston 14: In a battle of teams without an IEL win, the Trojans (7-2, 1-2) thumped the Bengals (5-4, 0-3) in Post Falls.

Great Northern

Pullman 23, West Valley 12: Tyler Langerveld threw for 243 yards and three TDs on 11-of-24 passing and the Greyhounds (4-5, 2-2) knocked off the Eagles (2-6, 1-3) in Pullman. Brandon Barrington had 97 yards receiving and a TD for the Greyhounds.

Intermountain

Timberlake 66, Kellogg 6: The Tigers (4-5, 4-0) clinched first place in the IML with a win over the Wildcats (0-9, 0-4) in Kellogg. After going winless in nonleague games, the Tigers were perfect in league play.

Bonners Ferry 24, Priest River 12: The Badgers (4-5, 3-1) defeated the Spartans (3-6, 2-2) in Bonners Ferry. The win gave the Badgers second place in the IML, while the Spartans finished third.

Northeast A

Colville 34, Chewelah 6: Blake Sjordal rushed for 140 yards and two TDs on 16 carries and the Indians (9-0, 5-0) racked up 286 yards on the ground en route to completing a perfect season with a win over the Cougars (5-4, 2-3) in Chewelah. The Cougars were held to 93 yards rushing in the game. The Indians will play Cashmere on Nov. 6 in regional action.

Lakeside 12, Freeman 8: Jimmie Day rushed for 151 yards and two first-half touchdowns and the Eagles (5-4, 4-1) held the Scotties (5-4, 1-4) scoreless after the first quarter in Freeman. The Eagles clinched second place in the league with the win, advancing to play Omak on Nov. 6, with the winner advancing to state.

North Star

Wallace 62, Lakeside 16: Nathan Cook rushed for 298 yards and four TDs and Kidman Cook added 173 rushing yards and two scores as the league-champion Miners (8-0, 8-0) beat the Knights (6-3, 5-3) in Wallace.

Kootenai 40, Clark Fork 20: Brandon Carmen tallied 133 yards rushing with two TDs and the Warriors (5-4, 5-3) held a 40-0 lead over the Wampus Cats (2-6, 2-6) by halftime in Clark Fork. The Wampus Cats were led by Nate Nesbitt’s 212 yards rushing and two TDs.

Northeast 2B

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 44, Davenport 14: Micah Brown carried the ball five times for 63 yards and two touchdowns and the Broncos (6-2, 5-1) scored 34 consecutive points to put away the Gorillas (2-6, 0-6) in Davenport. LRS clinched second in the league with the win against the Gorillas, only falling to Colfax during league play.

Reardan 34, Liberty 12: Charlie Eldred rushed for a pair of touchdowns and the Indians (5-3, 3-3) scored 34 straight points against the Lancers (3-5, 2-4) in Spangle.

Northeast 1B North

Cusick 68, Wellpinit 16: Tyler Edwards rushed for three touchdowns and threw for three more, hooking up with three different receivers as the Panthers (9-0, 5-0) secured the win over the Redskins (4-5, 3-2) by halftime in Wellpinit.

Curlew 55, Northport 26: Tanner Somday rushed for 134 yards and two TDs on nine carries and Jamie Zerck threw for 293 yards and five TDs as the Cougars (3-5, 1-4) rolled against the Mustangs (1-6, 0-5) in Curlew.

Columbia-Inchelium 44, Selkirk 22: Trevor Anderson accounted for the Timberwolves’ (5-2, 4-1) first 22 points, finishing with 114 yards rushing and four TDs against the visiting Rangers (3-6, 2-3). C-I finished second in the league with the win.

Northeast 1B South

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 53, Mansfield 8: Derek Isaak returned the opening kick for a touchdown and rushed for another score and the Warriors (8-0, 4-0) closed the regular season with a two-quarter win against the Kernels (2-5, 1-3) in Mansfield.

Odessa-Harrington 70, Easton-Thorp 24: Jared King carried the ball twice for 107 yards and two touchdowns and the Titans (5-4, 2-2) cruised to a win against the visiting Jaguars (1-6, 0-4). Nick Sperline added two rushing TDs for the Titans.

Southeast 2B

Waitsburg-Prescott 14, Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia 13: Zach Bartlow threw for 114 yards and a touchdown and the Cardinals (9-0, 5-0) held off the host Nighthawks (3-5, 1-4) to finish the season undefeated. TOR appeared ready to tie the game when it scored in the third quarter, but the kick was blocked, giving the Cardinals the edge.

Southeast 1B

St. John-Endicott 44, Colton 32: Cole McCanna broke loose for 254 yards and five touchdowns on the ground and the host Eagles (7-1, 5-0) clinched the league title by beating the Wildcats (4-5, 3-2). Josh Straughan had 363 yards passing and four TDs for the Wildcats.

Garfield-Palouse 52, Sunnyside Christian 6: J.B. Lang rushed for 148 yards and four TDs and Riley Hodges added 132 yards rushing and two TDs in the Vikings’ (4-4, 3-2) romp over the visiting Knights (1-8).

Nonleague

Vancouver College Prep, B.C. 27, Cheney 20: Jeff Tichelman threw a pair of TD passes to Reier Theil and the Fighting Irish (5-0) scored all 27 of their points in the first half against the Blackhawks (4-3) in Cheney. The Blackhawks scored 14 fourth-quarter points.

Deer Park 28, Riverside 26: Colton Mead threw for 145 yards and three touchdowns, hitting Zach Mohr for 117 yards and two TDs as the Stags (7-2) edged the Rams (6-3) in Deer Park. Josh Davis led the Rams with 225 yards passing and two TDs.

Clarkston 47, Medical Lake 13: Colby Hansen scored five rushing touchdowns and the Bantams (6-3) outscored the Cardinals (2-6) 20-0 after halftime in Medical Lake.

Wilbur-Creston 53, Republic 8: Cody Johns scored three special teams touchdowns and racked up 181 return yards as the Wildcats (9-3) defeated the visiting Tigers (0-7) in three quarters.

Liberty Christian 48, LaCrosse-Washtucna 0: The host Patriots (9-0) beat the Tigercats (3-6) in Richland. No other information was available.
