A few Valley churches are planning special events this weekend for Halloween, plus other fall-themed events.

• Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will host its fourth annual “Trunk-r-Treat” event today from 2:30 to 7 p.m. in the church parking lot, 115 N. Raymond Road. Children in costume can stop by and collect sugary treats from cars with decorated trunks. The event is for children through the fifth grade. Refreshments will be served in the church.

The church is now selling tickets for its annual harvest dinner next Saturday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 3 to 10 and free for children 2 and younger. Proceeds will benefit church programs. Call the church office at (509) 924-7262 for tickets or more information.

• A Fall Fun Festival will take place following the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye Ave. Children are asked to come in costume, but not dressed as witches or devils. There will be a costume parade during the worship service. The festival includes games, hot dogs and plenty of candy.

• Millwood Presbyterian Church, 3223 N. Marguerite Road, will have its “Trunk or Treat” celebration Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the church parking lot. Everyone is welcome.

Reformation Sunday

The congregations of Good Shepherd Lutheran, Holy Trinity Lutheran and Christ Lutheran churches will come together for a joint Reformation service at 11 a.m. on Sunday at Christ Lutheran, 13009 E. Broadway Ave.

Auction

The Pasadena Park Church of the Nazarene Ladies Ministries auction will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Friday with dinner, followed by a silent auction at 6 p.m. and a live auction at 7.

There also will be raffles, a dessert auction and a children’s table. Child care will be available during the live auction. Items up for bid include salon services, Riverfront Park gift certificates, rock climbing, a GPS unit and more.

The dinner will feature beef stew and assorted breads, plus dessert. The cost of the meal is $3 for adults, $2 for children ages 5 to 11 and free for children 4 and younger.

The church is at 8822 E. Upriver Drive. Call the church office at (509) 926-5858 for tickets or more information.
