Cal Poly 35, Montana 33: Backup quarterback Doug Shumway threw two touchdown passes and Scottie Cordier had a 45-yard interception return for a score as the Mustangs (2-0) rallied to beat the Grizzlies (1-1) on Saturday in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Shumway, who replaced ineffective starter Tony Smith, was 3-of-3 passing for 128 yards. He threw an 83-yard scoring pass to David Mahr and connected with Dominique Johnson for a 25-yard TD.

The Mustangs (2-0) scored 21 straight points in the second half before the Grizzlies (1-1) put together a rally of their own.

Trailing 35-20, Montana pulled to within 35-33 with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns and got the ball back twice in the final three minutes of the game but failed to score again.

Montana’s Jabin Sambrano caught eight passes for 158 yards and a TD and Sam Gratton finished with eight catches for 124 yards and a score.

Portland State 41, UC Davis 33: Cory McCaffrey ran for 118 yards and a TD as the Vikings (1-1) held off the Aggies (0-2) in Davis, Calif.

The Vikings had 257 yards rushing compared to 70 for UC Davis.

Connor Kavanaugh was 15 for 24 with one TD for the Vikings, and added 63 yards on the ground.

Weber State 50, Northern Colorado 47 (4OT): Cameron Higgins threw four TD passes and freshman Shaun McClain kicked a 35-yard field goal in the fourth overtime to give the Wildcats (1-1, 1-0 Big Sky) a win over the Bears (1-1, 0-1) in Ogden, Utah.

Higgins completed 33 of 54 passes for 340 yards to became the second player in WSU history to pass for more than 10,000 yards.

Andre Harris ran for 116 yards and two TDs for the Bears.

Sacramento State 31, Western Oregon 17: Bryan Hilliard ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Hornets (1-1) past the Division II Wolves (1-1) in Sacramento, Calif.
