Online auditions for ‘Idol’ under way

Associated Press

The first online auditions for “American Idol” are open.

To mark the Fox TV show’s 10th anniversary, hopeful pop stars have the chance to submit an audition video at www.myspace.com/americanidol through Oct. 6. The entries must be no longer than 40 seconds and chosen from a list of songs posted online, along with other audition guidelines. Contestants for the show must be between the ages of 15 and 28.

The song possibilities include Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine,” Keith Urban’s “Kiss a Girl” and Barry Manilow’s “Copacabana.”

A “select number” of people will move on to a tryout in Los Angeles, the network said, but didn’t specify how many.
