Collision near Deer Park injures two

The Washington State Patrol this morning responded to a two-car collision near Clayton north of Deer Park on U.S. Highway 395 that blocked the highway and caused injuries to two drivers. Two vehicles were traveling south and both went into the ditch on an icy highway. A semi truck had jackknifed at the scene of the crash just before 5 a.m. De-icing trucks were requested to help clear the roadway surface, the State Patrol said. Citations were issued for driving too fast for conditions. The drivers were identified as Mary Moore, 53, of Springdale, and Melissa Carlo, 29, of Everett. Carlo went to Providence Holy Family Hospital. Moore was treated at the scene. The semi driver was not identified.
