Opportunity Presbyterian Toy Store needs donations

The congregation of Opportunity Presbyterian Church is seeking donations for its fourth annual Toy Store, which will be open on Dec. 10 this year.

The store allows low-income families referred to the church by local schools and social service agencies to purchase new toys for about 80 percent off the retail price.

The church needs donations of new toys appropriate for infants through fifth-graders, cash, tape and wrapping paper. Donations can be dropped off at the church at 202 N. Pines Road. Call the church office at (509) 924-9750 for more information.

Also happening at Opportunity Presbyterian this week is the annual Christmas caroling trip through the neighborhood. Everyone is invited to arrive at the church at 12:45 p.m. Sunday for some cookies and hot cocoa before heading out to sing Christmas carols.

Plum Pudding

The Veradale United Church of Christ will host its annual Plum Pudding Festival on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. The event includes Christmas carols, poems, stories and, of course, plum puddings. The church is at 611 N. Progress Road.
