In brief: Holiday donation drive next week at Ron’s Drive Inn
OPPORTUNITY – Ron’s Drive Inn, 12502 E. Sprague Ave., and Valley Meals on Wheels are getting into the holiday spirit with Drive Inn and Donate, Thursday and Friday, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
The first 100 people who donate will get a free doughnut. Nonperishable food items and money will be accepted.
Those who donate will also receive a coupon for Ron’s ’57 Combo, which includes a deluxe burger, small fry and a small beverage.

City’s accessibility plan to be discussed Wednesday
SPOKANE VALLEY – The city of Spokane Valley will host a community meeting Wednesday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. to discuss the city’s draft Americans with Disabilities Act Self Evaluation and Transition Plan. Special budget meeting scheduled Tuesday night
LIBERTY LAKE – There will be a special meeting of the Liberty Lake City Council from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the city’s 2012 budget. The council will also discuss the utility tax rate. Public comments will be accepted. The meeting will be held in City Hall, 22710 E. Country Vista Drive.
Fire District 8 to help Santa tour neighborhoods
SPOKANE COUNTY – Santa will be using Spokane County Fire District 8 fire engines to visit children living in the district.
His schedule is: Monday, Ponderosa neighborhood south of 44th Avenue, 5:30-8 p.m.; Tuesday, Station 82 in Valleyford, 5:30-6:15 p.m. and Albertsons parking lot at 32nd Avenue and Highway 27, 6:30-8 p.m.; Wednesday, Saltese and Morningside areas, 5:30-8 p.m.; Friday, Hangman Valley area and the Moran Prairie area west of Regal and south of 57th Avenue, 5-8:30 p.m.
Santa’s other stops include the Moran Prairie area west of Regal and north of 57th Avenue from 5-8:30 p.m. Dec. 17, the Moran Prairie area west of Regal and south of 57th Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Dec. 18 and the Moran Prairie area east of Regal and north of 57th Avenue from 5-8:30 p.m. on Dec. 19.
