S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHT!
Last night Lucinda, Brad, Craig, Mike, Chelsea and I squeezed around one the snug high tables at the Brooklyn lounge ( Brooklyn Nights , officially, I believe) and had ourselves a couple rounds of good times. The place is an old favorite of the group, and after my first visit, it became a new favorite of mine. Whether we’re popping in for a quick sip after work, or hunkering down for a few hours of late-night ridiculousness, we always feel right at home.
By now you know my beverage of choice is either red wine or gin & tonic. Either is a fairly straightforward pour that I can get just about anywhere. By now you also know good times are less about what you’re drinking and more about where you’re drinking, and who you’re drinking with.
Here’s why I choose to drink at Brooklyn:
- It’s smallish and darkish and cozy.
- The brick and stone walls are rough and beautiful and the perfect backdrop for one of the most unpredictable collections of drinkers in town.
- The bartenders are adorable and fast and funny.
- You can order one of Brooklyn’s fantastic sandwiches with your beer (or wine or liquor).
- The entrance door is in the alley, which makes it feel like a big-kids’ hipster hideout even though you’re right in the middle of everything.
- People-watching is awesome because it seems like somebody new is slipping in the door every three minutes.
You’ll find Brooklyn Nights at 122 S. Monroe, in the alley behind Far West Billiards. During the day Brooklyn Deli serves up wicked good soups, salads and sandwiches. Check ’em out, day or night.
