The Central Valley School District has approved the hiring of Sasha Deyarmin as the principal of the Kindergarten Center.

Deyarmin replaces Joanne Comer who has transferred to Liberty Lake Elementary School.

Deyarmin has been a first and second grade combination class teacher at Liberty Elementary School in Spangle for the last four years. Deyarmin has also served as the administrative intern and principal designee for the kindergarten through eighth grade school. She has 10 years of classroom experience.

Deyarmin is a graduate of West Valley High School, holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from Washington State University, a master’s in elementary education from Eastern Washington University, earned her principal’s certification at WSU and earned her National Board Certification in 2008.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the staff and parents of the Kindergarten Center in opening the gate to the road of endless possibilities for our kids,” Deyarmin said.

Technology upgrade

The Central Valley School Board also approved the purchase of SunGard Suite, a variety of software programs which will enable staff to centralize student information, allow parents to check on their students’ progress and will assist staff members in creating student schedules –something administrators have been doing by hand.

The cost of the software is $368,074 and professional development will be $342,558. The district plans to cover this cost through a one-time utilities savings of $639,451 and the remainder from federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds.

Scholarship

The Liberty Lake/MeadowWood Men’s Golf Club has awarded scholarships of $750 to four students in the Greater Spokane Valley area.

The recipients are Haleigh Miller from Central Valley High School, Searra Cameron from East Valley High School, Jaymee Vaughn from West Valley High School and Trevin Hiebert from University High School.
