Moses Lake man facing murder in trauma death of his mom

A Moses Lake woman found dead in her home on Sunday died from blunt force trauma in a homicide in which her son is facing a second-degree murder charge. Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison today confirmed the cause of death of Edna A. Simmons, 88, in a news release this morning. Moses Lake police arrested 56-year-old Jack Simmons early Monday after an anonymous call led them to the home on Sunset Drive. Dispatchers also received a call from Simmons saying his mother had passed away. The coroner was called to the home shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday, the news release said. Officers found a suspicious amount of blood. Police say Jack Simmons said he was home at the time of her death and offered various accounts of the circumstances. He was booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.
