OUTDEAL - Snow accumulating in the high country is a sure sign used gear will be coming out of closets for great deals at annual ski- and winter-gear swaps.

The following fundraisers help raise money for area ski patrols:

Local programs span wide range

OUTSEE – Following are some of the outdoor- related programs in the area this week:

One-arm climber debunks disabilities – Gary Guller, the first person with one arm to summit Mount Everest and the leader of the largest cross-disability group to reach the 17,500-foot base camp at Mount Everest Base Camp, will bring his motivational story to Spokane Community College on Monday, 1 p.m., in the Lair-Student Center auditorium, Bldg. 6, 1810 N. Greene St. Free.

Kayakers explore Antarctica – Bill and Debbie Pierce of Spokane will present images the wildlife and culture they explored while sea-kayaking from a mother ship near the Falkland Islands and Antarctica Peninsula Monday, 7 p.m., at Mountain Gear Corporate Headquarters, 6021 E. Mansfield sponsored by the Spokane Mountaineers.

Diva Night, outdoors for ladies – A ladies-only seminar about programs and events designed to get women active in outdoor activities, Thursday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at REI, 1125 N. Monroe St.
