In brief: Coffee shops will donate Friday’s sales to cancer
SPOKANE VALLEY/LIBERTY LAKE – The American Childhood Cancer Organization Inland Northwest is partnering with coffee shops in the Inland Northwest to raise funds on Friday for “Coffee for Kids’ Cancer Day.” The event is part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, held each year during September.
Shotsy’s Coffee, 3515 N. Sullivan Road and 507 S. Pines Road, will donate all proceeds from Friday’s coffee sales to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer. Handcrafted Espresso, 23403 E. Mission Ave. in Liberty Lake, will donate $1 from each cup of coffee sold on Friday.

Bike ride to benefit Liberty arboretum, scholarships
LIBERTY LAKE – The Liberty Lake Centennial Rotary Club will have its annual Rotary in Motion bike ride on Sept. 18, from the Meadowwood Technology Campus. Starts will stagger throughout the morning from 7 to 10:30 a.m.
The ride will include a 5-mile, 15-mile, 25-mile, 50-mile and 100-mile option for each participant. Cost ranges from $35 to $45 per person for the longer distances and $40 per family for the 5-mile family fun ride. Fee includes a long-sleeve T-shirt, participant packet, route map, snack, a beverage and a baked potato feed after the event.
