Airmen finish basic training

Area residents recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Air Force Airman Ramon Bambino graduated in 2005 from Gonzaga Prep and is the son of Rod and Rebecca Bambino, of Spokane.

Air Force Reserve Airman Devin Cyr graduated in 2009 from Rogers High School and is the son of Michael Cyr, of Spokane, and Leslie LaFountaine, of Tacoma.

Air Force Airman Marcus Hartman graduated in 2010 from Ferris High School and is the son of Mitch and Marta Hartman, of Spokane.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Danileo Herrera is a 2009 graduate of Medical Lake High School and the son of Leonora Sanchez, of San Leandro, Calif.

Air Force Airman Tyler Julyan is the son of Jeff and Michele Cleveland, of Spokane, and graduated from Shadle Park High School in 2010.

Air Force Airman Jeffrey Lowery is the son of Tracie Warcham, of Spokane Valley, and graduated in 2010 from University High School.

Air Force Airman Morreyah McKenzie is the granddaughter of William McKenzie, of Spokane, and the daughter of Stephen McKenzie, of Lake Forest Park, Wash.

Air National Guard Airman Serafina Pintler is the daughter of Jeffery and Celfida Pintler, of Spokane, and graduated in 2004 from North Central High School.

Air Force Airman Catherine Skaggs is a 2004 graduate of University High School and the daughter of Dewey Skaggs, of Spokane Valley.

Air Force Airman Tayn Waterworth is a 2010 graduate of Valley Christian High School and the son of David and Dawn Graybeal, of Spokane Valley.

• Army Pvt. Beau Bartch graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consisted of Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Individual Training.

Bartch is the son of Charles and Sandy Bartch of Spokane and graduated in 2009 from University High School.

• Army Pvt. Keith Huguenin graduated from Basic Combat tTraining and basic field artillery cannon crew member Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

Huguenin graduated in 2010 from Junction City High School in Kansas and is the son of Scott and Tamara Huguenin, of Spokane.

• U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Andrew Betts, of Spokane, attended and successfully completed 10 days of training hosted by Coast Guard members from Station Portland. The course gave Betts and 13 other cadets a view at law enforcement in the marine environment and careers in the U.S. Coast Guard.

• Army National Guard Pvt. Kye Steik graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

He is the son of Shanni and stepson of Adrian Steik of Spokane and a 2009 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

Kelly Braaten recently graduated from Navy basic training. Braaten is currently in Pensacola, Fla., for additional military training. He is a 2010 graduate of Post Falls High School and the son of Mary Jo Braaten, of Post Falls.

Jacob Rittenhouse has graduated from the U.S. Marine Corps Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Va. He will accept a commission as second lieutenant after completing a criminal justice degree from Eastern Washington University in 2012.

Rittenhouse is a 2008 graduate of Shadle Park High School and the son of Jeff and Mona Rittenhouse of Spokane.

Stephen Hoerner was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank given in the Boy Scouts. Hoerner is a member of Troop 348.

For his project, Hoerner built four benches for St. Charles Catholic Church for the elderly and schoolchildren to use. He is home-schooled and the son of Brian and Jean Hoerner, of Spokane.

Ryan Jenkin, a member of Troop 419, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

For his project, Jenkin built four insulated doghouses for Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service. He is a sophomore at Central Valley High School and the son of Eric and Stacey Jenkin, of Spokane Valley.

Derek Sirek, a member of Troop 80, has been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

For his project, Sirek made improvements to the kitchen at the Cup of Cool Water ministry in downtown Spokane. He removed old carpeting, cabinets, radiators, molding, the stove and refrigerator. He installed new sub-floor and vinyl flooring, along with a new cabinet. He then re-installed the cabinets, appliances and molding. He procured donations for the project.

Sirek is the son of Jerome Sirek of Colbert and Sheri Sirek of Spokane and graduated from Mead High School in 2011.
