In brief: CVSD selects new principal for U-Hi

Spokane Valley – Central Valley School District has selected Alan Robbins to be the new principal at University High School. The choice must be approved by the school board, which next meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Robbins has been principal at Columbia Falls High School in Columbia Falls, Mont., since 2007. During his time at that school, he developed a mathematics-intervention program and supported technology integration.

He has been working in education for 18 years with seven years of administrative experience. He served as principal of Lincoln County High School in Eureka, Mont., and taught mathematics for 11 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a teaching certificate in math and a master’s in education administration from Montana State University.

If the board approves his selection, Robbins will replace Daryl Hart, who will retire at the end of the school year.

Vote for favorite student project

SPOKANE COUNTY – Spokane Teachers Credit Union’s “Hundred Dollar Project,” asked local high school students “How can you make a difference in the world with only $100?” Six teams of students created projects to answer the question. Their projects were completed in March.

The students submitted YouTube videos highlighting their work. Through Friday, you can vote for your favorite project and help that team win $2,500. To view and vote visit www.hundreddollar project.org/vote/.
