Pac-12 volleyball coaches pick WSU 11th
Washington State was tabbed for 11th place in the Pac-12 Conference preseason volleyball poll of coaches, the conference announced Thursday.
The Cougars received 22 points to finish only ahead of Colorado.
Defending NCAA champion UCLA, with five starters back, received top nod, with 10 first-place votes and 120 points. Stanford is next with two first-place votes and 109 points.
Defending Pac-12 champion USC (96 points) in next, followed by Oregon (91) and Washington (83).
The poll has predicted the regular-season champion correctly 17 times in 26 years.
Women’s soccer
Eastern Washington is tabbed for eighth place in the preseason poll of Big Sky Conference coaches.
EWU received 23 points.
Portland State is the top pick, with two first-place votes and 68 points, but Northern Colorado (66 points, four first-place votes) and Montana (64, two) were right behind. Weber State and Northern Arizona also received first-place votes.
Portland State, which returns five starters, and Northern Colorado shared the Big Sky championship last year.
