Sheriff’s office investigates deadly crash

From staff reports
Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies found a missing Hayden man dead inside his vehicle after an apparent car crash. A woman reported her fiance missing from the 23000 block of East Hayden Lake Road about 7 p.m. Tuesday. The woman told authorities her fiance, 61-year-old Thomas McLennon, hadn’t come home from work. It is unknown how long he had been missing, but it was possibly since Monday night, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies retraced his usual route from his workplace to his house and found his Jeep Commander about half a mile from East Hayden Lake Road on his long, winding driveway. McLennon was found dead inside the Jeep. He apparently left the driveway and crashed into a hillside and some trees when the vehicle caught fire. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Traffic Investigation Team is investigating. The sheriff’s office says more details will be released once they are available.
